things to pray about pt. 3 (weakness)
Updated: Sep 19, 2020
I recently found the perfect-sized standing chalkboard for my countertop, so naturally I also needed to find the perfect verse to write on it in my better-than-usual handwriting. I decided on 2nd Corinthians 12:9:
"But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
Not too many words (so it fits!) but very much the words that I want to see over and over and over again when I'm chopping up peppers or wiping up messes until they finally sink into my soul.
My biggest daily hangup is my worry that I am not doing all that I can to magnify the Lord in my life. I know I repeatedly fall short. Pride or sloth or envy or doubt occasionally creeps in and slows my progress.
But God's word reminds me that His grace is more than enough to cover my shortcomings, and His power is at work in spite of them.
Is there a more important reminder than the fact that God saves and strengthens us when we humble ourselves before Him? Is there anything more inspiring than the realization that God's power can shine even through our worst moments? Anything more encouraging than the assurance that His divine intervention in our sinful lives is *truly* all we need to run this race?
I don't think so. But if you find a better verse, let me know!
